Roe Applauds Passage of Legislation to Permanently Extend Tax Relief for Families and Small Businesses
WASHINGTON D.C. – Today, Rep. Phil Roe, M.D. (R-TN) released the following statement after voting for passage of H.R. 6760, the Protecting Family and Small Business Tax Cuts Act of 2018:
“I am proud to support the historic tax relief we provided with President Trump’s leadership to all Americans last December. One concern we heard when we passed the bill is that the tax relief for individuals would expire, which is why this week we voted to make that tax relief permanent for families and small businesses. I have said since the bill was passed that no one should ever worry about tax relief expiring for individuals or small businesses, and now Republicans have made good on our promise. I proudly supported this bill because families and small businesses deserve certainty, and to keep more money in their pockets. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act is continuing to show its positive impact and the proof is in the numbers. Making these cuts permanent is predicted to create another 1.5 million new jobs, increase wages by 0.9 percent and increase GDP by 2.2 percent. This legislation will follow through on our promise to protect the middle class and small businesses, promote family savings and encourage new entrepreneurs. I look forward to seeing how these tax cuts will continue to positively impact the economy and the quality of life for all Americans. ”Note: H.R. 6760, the Protecting Family and Small Business Tax Cuts Act of 2018 is one piece of the 3-part Tax Reform 2.0. This legislative agenda was created to continue the work on tax reform, and to make tax cuts found in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act permanent. This agenda also includes the H.R. 6757, the Family Savings Act of 2018 and H.R. 6756, the American Innovation Act of 2018, both of which also passed out of the House this week.
