WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Rep. Phil Roe, M.D. (R-Tenn.) released the following statement after voting in favor of H.Res 990, a resolution supporting the officers and personnel who carry out the important mission of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE):

“As a proud supporter of border security and enforcing our country’s immigration laws, I voted today in support of the men and women of ICE and the work they do to protect our nation. ICE is tasked with securing and protecting our borders in order to keep all Americans safe while maintaining law and order along our borders. In addition to the critical work ICE does to keep our borders secure, the agency plays a vital role in protecting our country from criminals like human traffickers and gang members, which is why I am proud to support the agency and their mission. Calls to abolish ICE are reckless and do more to embolden criminals than to keep our country safe.”
