WASHINGTON, D.C.  – Today, Rep. Phil Roe, M.D. (R-Tenn.) released the following statement on recent health care premium decrease announcements:

“Democrats have spent the last two years offering every prediction under the sun about the dire consequences of Republican efforts to replace Obamacare with patient-centered reforms. Now, we can see that their predictions ring hollow – as many of us said. Health insurance will still be too expensive in 2019, and we need to enact real comprehensive reforms that increase competition, improve quality and reduce cost. However, after two years with huge double-digit premium increases and skyrocketing copays, the fact that plans may be starting to decrease premiums, after Republican reforms like repealing the individual mandate, is very welcome news. My top priority will continue to be improving our health care system, including finding ways to ways to lower cost, expand competition, improve access and increase quality.”
