WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Rep. Phil Roe, M.D. (R-Tenn.) released the following statement after the U.S. Department of Labor (DoL) announced its final rule on Association Health Plans (AHP), which will allow small businesses and workers to band together to shop for competitive, affordable health care coverage:

“I have worked since my first day in Congress to bring down the cost of health care, and today’s announcement from DoL will help do just that. This announcement is great news for small businesses and their employees since it will allow them to group together to increase their purchasing power and shop for health care plans in the same way large businesses and corporations already do. Because of their size, large employers often have advantages over smaller employers in negotiations with insurers and are able to offer more competitively-priced health plans. I strongly support these AHPs because they could greatly benefit millions of Americans who work for a small business or operate a sole proprietorship with lower costs and increased options for health coverage. I thank President Trump and Secretary Acosta for their strong leadership in ensuring Americans have the quality, affordable health care options they deserve.”
