Roe: We Are One Step Closer to Seizing a Once-in-a-Generation Opportunity
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Rep. Phil Roe, M.D. (R-Tenn.) released the following statement after voting for the motion to go to conference to allow the House and Senate to reconcile the differences between the two tax reform bills:
“Today we are one step closer to overhauling our tax code and seizing a once-in-a-generation opportunity to allow hardworking Americans to keep more of their pay. I am pleased the House has agreed to go to conference to reconcile the differences between the bills in both chambers. Comprehensive tax reform will give East Tennesseans a much-needed boost in their paychecks, increase job growth across the country and create a competitive tax environment for all businesses – both large and small. This pro-growth, commonsense tax reform bill is an incredible opportunity to improve the lives of all Americans, and I am optimistic Congress can get this bill to the president’s desk before Christmas.”Note: The U.S. House of Representatives passed its tax reform legislation on November 16, and the U.S. Senate passed its tax reform bill on Saturday.
