This Thanksgiving, I encourage you to take a moment to give thanks for the many blessings we have simply by living in this great country. The freedoms and liberties we experience as Americans shouldn’t be taken for granted, and we owe it all to the men and women who serve in our armed forces. Every Thanksgiving, I say a special prayer for the brave servicemembers who are serving our nation overseas. They cannot be with their families and friends here in the States, but they should be in our thoughts and prayers.

Our country’s celebration of Thanksgiving began with the Pilgrims who came to Plymouth Rock from England in 1621. While there were many celebrations before, in 1789, President George Washington signed an official proclamation which called for a “day of public thanksgiving and prayer.” I believe it’s important we continue the tradition of prayer and thanksgiving for the ways God continues to bless us.

As Americans, we have so much to be grateful for. This Thanksgiving, I am thankful for the many blessings from our Creator, my loving family and the opportunity to represent you in Congress.

From my family to yours, we wish you a very happy Thanksgiving!

Feel free to contact my office if I can be of assistance to you or your family.
