Roe Applauds Chairmen Brady and Walden on IPAB Efforts
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Rep. Phil Roe, M.D. (R-Tenn.) released the following statement on the announcement that the two authorizing committees would consider H.R. 849, the Protecting Seniors’ Access to Medicare Act, Roe’s legislation to repeal the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB):
“I am thrilled my legislation to repeal the Independent Payment Advisory Board is being marked up by the two authorizing committees this week. These markups are an opportunity to show there is bipartisan support for this legislation and bipartisan concern about an unelected, unaccountable bureaucracy denying our seniors access to care. Repealing IPAB is an essential step in undoing the damage caused by the Affordable Care Act, and I commend Committee Chairmen Kevin Brady and Greg Walden for their continued leadership and efforts to protect seniors’ access to care.”NOTE: The House Committees on Energy and Commerce and Ways and Means announced they would markup H.R. 849 on October 4, 2017.
