Roe: Premium Increase Requests Further Underscore Obamacare’s Failures
JOHNSON CITY, TENN. – Today, Rep. Phil Roe, M.D. (R-Tenn.) released the following statement after Tennessee insurers requested double-digit premium increases for Obamacare plans in 2018:
“The premium increase requests for 2018 further underscore the fact that Obamacare is failing Tennesseans and that the health insurance market in Tennessee and across the country is unstable. Since Obamacare was signed into law, its failures have been put on the backs of Tennesseans, and it’s clearer than ever that Congress must act to repeal and replace this law. The American Health Care Act, while imperfect, is projected to bring stabilization to the health insurance market, something Tennessee desperately needs right now. The limited options Tennesseans will have under Obamacare are unaffordable and will only continue to get more expensive, which is exactly why I will keep fighting to repeal Obamacare and replace it with market-driven health care reform that gives decision-making power back to patients, not bureaucrats in Washington.”Background: The Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance released the insurance rate requests for 2018 on Friday, July 7, 2017.
