JOHNSON CITY, TENN. – Today, Rep. Phil Roe, M.D. (R-Tenn.) released the following statement on the announcement that President-elect Trump has chosen to nominate Andy Puzder, CEO of CKE Restaurants, as secretary of the Department of Labor:

“I’m glad President-elect Trump has chosen Andy Puzder, an accomplished Tennessee businessman, to lead the Department of Labor. Mr. Puzder knows firsthand how good-paying jobs are created, and is keenly aware of the issues facing today’s workforce. For eight long years, the current administration has pursued regulation after regulation, leaving many small businesses fearful about whether they could stay afloat. I know Mr. Puzder from my time as the Health, Employment, Labor and Pensions Subcommittee chairman, and I am confident he’ll be a successful Labor Secretary. I congratulate him on his nomination and thank President-elect Trump for sending such a strong statement about his commitment to our nation’s workers with this nomination.”
