Washington, D.C.  –  Rep. Phil Roe, M.D. (R-TN) released the following statement on the student loan interest rate agreement that passed the House with overwhelming bipartisan support:

“I am glad to support a permanent solution, rather than another one-year patch, that prevents student loan interest rates from doubling. During these tough economic times, access to affordable, quality education is very important. This bill a rare example of good, bipartisan work in Washington and I am proud to support this measure. I will continue to work with Chairman Kline and my colleagues on the House Education and Workforce Committee to ensure we’re doing everything in our power to prepare our students at all levels for future success.”
