Farm Bureau Honors Roe with National AwardWASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Phil Roe, M.D. (TN-01) was awarded the “Friend of Farm Bureau” award by the Tennessee Farm Bureau. “I am honored to receive this award,” said Roe. “I will continue to support legislation to help our farmers thrive in their business, and I remain committed to standing up for the agriculture community. I also want to thank the Tennessee Farm Bureau for their commitment to the farmers in the First District of Tennessee.” Tennessee Farm Bureau President Lacy Upchurch has announced that both of Tennessee’s U.S. senators and seven of the state’s Representatives have been named recipients of the American Farm Bureau Federation’s “Friend of Farm Bureau” award. “‘Friends of Farm Bureau’ are those who have demonstrated their support for agriculture through their words and actions,” said Upchurch. “Our designations are influenced by statewide grassroots input and are only given when a candidate exhibits a clear understanding and record of support for Farm Bureau policy issues. We look forward to working with candidates who possess this type of understanding and experience. Congressman Roe has reached out to agriculture during his term in the Congress. His votes on farm related issues, continued concerns for our farmers during drought and other tough times experienced recently, makes him a friend not only of Farm Bureau, but the Tennessee farmer as well.” The award is given each year to senators and congressmen nationwide that have supported and continuously voted for agriculture, rural communities and Farm Bureau policy.
