President Trump made many commitments to the American people and has done an exceptional job of keeping those promises. That’s why I was proud to support the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which has resulted in a thriving economy and an unemployment rate of 3.8 percent nationally last month, and it’s even lower in Tennessee at 3.4 percent. In addition, in a survey completed by the National Association o... Read more

Last month, Tennessee’s unemployment rate hit a record low of 3.4 percent, half a percent lower than the national rate that has fallen to a 48-year low. In fact, according to Department of Labor and Workforce Development Commissioner Burns Phillips, unemployment rates in all 95 Tennessee counties decreased in April 2018. On top of that, the unemployment rate for our nation’s veterans has dropped to just 3.7 percent, down from 4.3 percent just a year ago. Nationally, our economy is also thriving ... Read more

Since coming to Congress, there are three groups I’ve always said I’ll never apologize for helping: active duty military, veterans and farmers. There’s no question America wouldn’t be as strong as we are without our men and women in agriculture, which is why I am committed to advocating for Tennessee farmers as this year’s Farm Bill moves through Congress. Growing up, I worked on a tobacco farm; that work convinced me that chemistry wasn’t so hard after all. All my life, I’ve seen first-hand the... Read more

When Donald Trump was elected president, many East Tennesseans, including myself, were very hopeful that his agenda would result in job creation, economic growth and increased prosperity for millions of people who felt the previous administration had left them behind. The results have been even better than expected. Immediately, the president began working with Congress to repeal some of the most burdensome regulations enacted during the last months of the Obama administration. This sent a clea... Read more

As we begin the New Year, I want to take a moment to share my gratitude for the opportunity you’ve given me to serve you in Congress. While there’s no question there’s still much to do, I’m proud of the progress we’ve made toward delivering on our promises to improve the lives of all Americans.
