WASHINGTON, D.C.  – Rep. Phil Roe, M.D. (R-Tenn.) released the following statement after the confirmation of Alexander Acosta to serve as the Secretary for the United States Department of Labor:

“I would like to congratulate Alex Acosta on his confirmation. I have watched for the past 8 years as the previous administration pursued policies that helped union bosses but left workers behind. Secretary Acosta will fight to expand opportunities for all America’s workers and retirees. It is a priority that we address issues such as protecting retirement savers’ access to investment advice by stopping the department’s misguided Fiduciary Rule, ensuring union elections are fair and transparent by reining in the National Labor Relations Board and pushing for commonsense policies that will support a strong and vibrant workforce. I look forward to working with him closely as a member on the House Education and Workforce Committee.”
